Alice Adventures in Wonderland
-And Through the Looking Glass
By Lewis Carroll
I have been trying to find ways to get my kids interested in books. Before all this pandemic stuff we would spend our Saturdays going to Barnes and Nobel. The younger kids sit in the children’s section and participate in storytime while the older kids walk around checking out other books. Oh, who am I kidding the older kids just go for coffee, not the books. I have often tried to bribe them to no avail. We have also gone to the library. Got each kid their very own library card. I buy books, check out book and I love to read. I have tried but they wont read.
As you have noticed in other blogs that I receive other subscription boxes. Mostly make up of course and yes you see that I have blogged about coffee and a classic. I just never really talked about how I came to find this box or even why I found a box that had nothing to do with baking. Anyway, I was going through one of those sites that list the many millions of subscriptions boxes and this literally caught my eye. A box where you get a classic, coffee and other cool items. I thought for sure one would like this one and I was right.. My then 11 year old immediately took to this box. And month after month we receive a new book and spend each night reading a couple of chapters a day.
We have just two chapters left of our June classic-The Secret Garden. He actually enjoyed it despite the fact that I have a hard time trying to read “Yorkshire” when DIckon, Martha, Ben and Dickons mom are speaking. After we have read our two chapters we both talk about how we would love to have a secret garden. Where we could just sit relax and admire all the pretty flowers growing around us while drinking a cup of coffee. Not having a care in the world. This is why I love books….We can imagine that we are in the book.
Then part two Through the looking Glass where she meet characters like Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Humpty Dumpty and Queen Alice. Never read this part so I am a bit excited to read it for the first time with my son. To be honest I never read the first part either but I have seen the Disney animation of this wonderful classic.
I love the cover of this book. It feels like leather(its not) and the lettering is gold foil stamped. It also has a gold ribbon attached for you to use as a place mark. But in this box they have also included their very own handmade FABRIC AND CHARM bookmark.
This is a 6 oz ceramic tea cup. He has already been using it to drink his coffee and some tea before bed.
I almost forgot about the cute little 100% cotton book bag. Just a perfect size to carry a book to the park. He probable wont use it but once we are done reading the book he can store it in the bag and save it.
I love this box so much. Not only do we spend some quality time together by reading a wonderful new book each month but it also gives me the chance to prove to him that reading is fun. The extra surprises do help as well.

You will have a choice of two Classic Literature and Children’s Classic. Free shipping in the US and usually ships between the 19th and 23rd of each month. If you want to get the August box make sure to sign up before July 31st. They offer “Sneak Peaks” so you will be able to see what you are getting the following month. You can switch between the literature or the children’s classic just like you can switch between the drinks. I show my son the two books and allow him to make the decision as to which he would want to read. So far he has stuck with the children’s. He has also rotated between the drinks. He loved the tea but does love the coffee much better. If you like books and coffee this is the perfect subscription for you. I wont be giving this one up anytime soon.
***The pictures were taking by my 16 yr old and pictures were edited by my 13 year old. The 13 year old wanted to try it out an see how well he can do. They also wanted to help me out a bit with all this… I think they did a fantastic job*****
‘But I don’t want to go among mad people,’ said Alice. ‘Oh, you can’t help that,’ said the cat. ‘We’re all mad here.’
